Virtual Vara Maha Lakshmi Vratam Online

Due to the ongoing pandemic, our Temple is offering Virtual Vara Mahã Lakshmi Vrata Online to perform from home.

Vara Mahã Lakshmi Vratam is dedicated to Goddess Šri Vara Lakshmi, an incarnation of Šri Mahã Lakshmi. This vrata is observed during Hindu lunar calendar Šrãvana month on the Friday, before the Full Moon (Poornima) day. It is observed by women praying to goddess Šri Mahã Lakshmi to seek Her blessings for a happy, wealthy and fruitful life.

The Virtual Vara Mahã Lakshmi Vrata Online will be conducted using Zoom Meeting as follows:

Date: August 20, 2021 (Friday) – at 10:30 a.m. (EST) 
Fee: $51 per participant (including priest dakshina).

Prior registration is required to participate. Scroll below and click the link option for payment.

Last date for registration:

August 9, 2021 (Monday) – if the devotee expects the Temple to send the silver coin and sacred thread by USPS postal mail to them.

August 19, 2021 (Thursday) – if the devotee can pick up the silver coin and sacred thread at the Temple counter or make his own arrangement to acquire the same locally.

IMPORTANT: if you require a silver coin and sacred thread please choose one during checkout.

Zoom meeting ID and password will be emailed to registered participants on August 19, 2021 (Thursday).

Internet and Computer Requirements:

This is an online program and therefore, you’ll be required to have a reliable Internet connection and a suitable device such as a PC, laptop or tablet. Cell phones may not be suitable to take this program. The pooja will be offered via Zoom Meeting.

Also, please prepare for the vratam as detailed below. The participants may not be able to ask questions during the online vratam.

Preparing for Virtual Vara Mahã Lakshmi Vratam

Prepare yourself before commencement :

Please login to Zoom meeting at 10:15 a.m. on August 20, 2021 (Friday) and wait to be admitted into the meeting. This may take up to 10 minutes!

Since there is only one virtual session, please login on time. The Virtual Vara Mahã Lakshmi Vrata will start at 10:30 a.m. (EST) for those who have already logged in.

Total time duration for ritual is approximately 45 minutes.

The Virtual Vara Mahã Lakshmi Vrata will be conducted by our Temple Priest and assisted by a Technical Admin.

How to participate in Virtual Vara Mahã Lakshmi Vratam?

It is advised that participant have full shower in the morning.

As per one’s family tradition, wear a neatly washed cotton or silk saree or appropriate dress.

Keep the following items ready:

  • Silver, Brass, or Copper Plate
  • Panchapatram (cup) with Uddharani (spoon) – filled with clean water
  • Turmeric powder paste to make the deity or Lakshmi picture/photo
  • Akshata (raw rice) or Kumkum (sufficient quantity for Ashtottara Nãmãvali Archana)
  • Flowers, incense stick, bell and harati
  • Light a Lamp or Candle and place appropriately on the altar / pooja mantap
  • Any offering / naivedyam – fruits / dry fruits, home cooked food or sweets
  • Silver Coin, Granti / Raksha & Sacred Thread

Sit comfortably on the floor and keep your laptop or computer monitor in front of you with adequate audio level. (Try to play some music and check the audio levels BEFORE logging into the meeting!)

If you have difficulties sitting on the floor, you may sit on a raised seat or a chair.

4. Prayer to Sri Maha Ganapati
5. Invocation of Šri Vara Mahã Lakshmi in a kalašam
6. Ashtottara Sata Nama Archana
6. Dhora Granti Pooja (make knots and pooja for the sacred thread)
7. Reading of Vrata Katha
8. Offer of Naivedyam (food offering)
9. Upachãra (honoring), Harati
10.Tying of sacred thread on the hand wrist/ forearm
11.Closing prayer & Namaskara (prostration).
